Pro Series: Down Under™
Complete Course Outline

This six-month ONLINE course will take you through the entire process of creating a high concept, marketable screenplay.

Each day, you'll receive a new email in your inbox which includes a clear lesson with specific examples, and an assignment which you'll post to an online forum. Each module lasts about 10 days, and we'll take breaks of around 10 days between modules.

Let's look at the entire program:

First off, we start with a Teleconference, to get you prepared for the six months ahead. You'll get specific tips and suggestions for how best to approach this process. You'll hear from Hal and Jeff directly, and be able to ask any questions you like.

Then, we move into the first module: High Concept

HIGH CONCEPT (Module 1)

The High Concept module is now broken into two parts, and is unlike anything you've seen anywhere else. If you have a movie idea already, you'll see how to make it marketable in the first part. If you don't have an idea, you'll discover a step-by-step process for generating marketable High Concept screenplays in the second part.

Day 1: Million Dollar Concepts -- What is a High Concept idea and how do we create them?
Day 2: Part One: Applying the first four formats for marketable screenplay ideas to your concept.
Day 3: Applying the next four formats for marketable screenplay ideas to your concept.
Day 4: Applying the final four formats for marketable screenplay ideas to your concept.
Day 5: Part Two: The Fascinating Core -- How to find the fascination behind and idea and turn it into a High Concept story idea.
Day 6: How to use the Fascinating Core to explode your ideas into a whole new level.
Day 7: The producer's thinking process, and how to make sure your idea works.
Day 8: The six rules of great concepts.
Day 9: The Million Dollar Question, and how to put the power into your own hands.
Day 10: Final comments and assignments for developing your High Concept

After the High Concept Module, we schedule another teleconference to make sure the ideas are clear, and to ensure that all your questions are answered.

Then, you'll have two one-on-one phone consultations -- one with Hal and one with Jeff -- to work through your specific High Concept idea, to make sure you spend the rest of the course working on a marketable concept, and to help you decide which market you're writing for.

MARKETING YOUR SCRIPT (Module 10)

When you're finished with your script, there's no point in keeping it on your shelf. It's time to get out there and start marketing it. This module takes you through the steps you need to create a powerful marketing plan for your script.

Day 1: Understand marketing and what the movie business wants from screenwriters.

Day 10: Fitting in with Hollywood while remaining creative.
Day 11: Finalizing your marketing campaign.

When you have finished this module, we'll have another teleconference, in which Hal will present his 21-step Re-Write process.

Because this course is educational in nature, you are learning new skills AS you write your screenplay. It's causing tremendous new breakthroughs every single day of the course. You'll discover through this process that some of the things you learn later in the process will re-shape your understanding of the lessons you learned earlier in the process.

But what that means in practice, is that you'll want to go back and apply what you've learned in some scenes to ALL the scenes you've written. You'll be excited, eager, and ready with a new array of skills to take your work to a new height of professional.

For this reason, it's generally a good idea to expect to spend an additional 2 - 3 months on your re-write, when the course has finished.

Also, remember: you will write the best script of your career during this course. But this course is NOT about that one script. It is about giving you the TOOLS, the SKILLS, and the TECHNIQUES to ensure you can consistently write professional-level screenplays for the rest of your career (even without Hal or Jeff watching over you). It's important to take the initiative and do the assignments to get the most out of it.

Generally, you should allow approximately 30 - 60 minutes each day for the exercises, when the modules are running. Participants are easily capable of taking patches of time off, and resuming where they left off. Participation of the forums is also optional (you'll get value out of this course even if you don't participate), however we STRONGLY suggest that participants do every day's exercise. "Knowing" is not enough; we must DO. By simply doing each day's exercise, you will improve your writing skills by at least 100%.

And that's quite confidently guaranteed.
